Why Did My Google Reviews Disappear?

You worked hard to Buy Google reviews Australia, and yesterday you had 48. This morning the count says 41, and nobody told you why.

Most of the time, reviews disappear because Google removed them for breaking a policy, such as spam. The other common causes are a restriction or suspension on your profile, a customer deleting their own review, or a delay in publishing. Some of these can be fixed. Reviews removed for policy violations don’t come back.

At BuyReviews we help Australian businesses collect reviews from real customers, and missing reviews are one of the first things new clients ask us about. Here’s how to work out what happened.

Why did my Google reviews disappear?

There are six causes we see, and it helps to go through them in order from most to least likely.

Did Google remove them for breaking a policy?

This is the usual reason. Google says missing reviews are most often removed for policy violations like spam or inappropriate content.

Spam includes fake reviews, and Google counts a review as fake if it doesn’t reflect a real experience. Reviews given in exchange for a discount or gift fall under the same rule.

Could Google’s spam filter have made a mistake?

Yes. Google uses automated spam detection, and it admits that some legitimate reviews get removed by mistake.

In our experience, this hits a handful of reviews, not dozens. If you’ve lost one or two from customers you know are real, a filter error is a fair guess.

Is your profile restricted for fake reviews?

If nearly all your reviews vanished at once, look here first. One of Google’s penalties for fake engagement is unpublishing a profile’s existing reviews for a set period. It can also pause new reviews and show a public warning.

Google says it emails the business owner before applying a restriction, so there should be a message in your inbox.

Was your profile suspended and then reinstated?

A suspension can take your reviews out of view. Google’s help page also covers the case where reviews go missing after a profile is suspended and then reinstated, and it tells owners to contact support.

Did the customer delete the review?

Customers can edit or delete their own reviews whenever they like. Google doesn’t notify you when they do.

Is the review only delayed?

New reviews don’t always show straight away. Google also notes that customers on older phones and operating systems can have trouble leaving reviews.

There’s one odd case worth knowing. If you set a future opening date on your profile, Google removes any reviews left before that date.

How do you find out which reason applies?

You can usually narrow it down in ten minutes.

  1. Write down which reviews are missing, if you remember them. One or two missing points to a filter or a customer. Most of them missing points to a restriction.
  2. Check the inbox and spam folder of the Google account that manages your Business Profile for any message from Google.
  3. Search your business name on Google and look for a warning on your profile.
  4. Select Read reviews and check if the remaining reviews are showing normally.
  5. Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool to see if your profile is listed as suspended.
  6. For a single missing review, ask the customer if they removed it or changed their Google account.

Can you get missing reviews back?

It depends on the cause. Google is clear that it doesn’t reinstate reviews removed for policy violations.

Reviews hidden under a restriction are unpublished for a set period, so they should show again when it ends. If reviews vanished after a suspension and reinstatement, contact Google Business Profile support and keep the case ID they give you.

A delayed review often turns up on its own. We’d give it a few days before doing anything.

What should you avoid doing?

Don’t buy replacements. If Google removed reviews for being fake, a fresh batch on the same profile is a second violation, and one report from 2026 showed Google handing a longer restriction to a profile caught twice.

Don’t offer customers a reward to post again, either. Google bans incentives even when the customer is real.

And don’t leave the profile untouched while you wait. Keep replying to the reviews you still have. When you respond to negative Google reviews as well as the good ones, the profile looks active and cared for.

How do you get more Google reviews that stay?

The reviews least likely to vanish are honest ones from real customers, written in their own words.

  1. On a computer, sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile and search your business name.
  2. Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, then Copy. This is Google’s own link, so you don’t need a paid Google review link generator.
  3. Ask every customer on the day you finish their job.
  4. Send the link by text or with a short review request email template: a thank you, one line asking for an honest review, and the link.
  5. Remind customers they need to be signed in to a Google Account to post.
  6. Offer nothing in return, and never write the review for them.

If fake reviews from someone else are sitting on your profile, select the three dots next to each one and choose Report review. That’s the only way to remove fake Google reviews.

This is the work we do at BuyReviews. You share your customer list, we send the requests and reminders, and your customers decide what to write. It’s how we help clients get Google reviews that last, and how we improve Google reviews over months. For us, that’s what online reputation management in Australia should deliver.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my Google reviews disappear?

The most common reason is that Google removed them for breaking a policy, such as spam. Other causes are a restriction on your profile, a suspension, a customer deleting their own review, or a publishing delay. Start by checking your email from Google and looking for a warning on your profile.

Will Google restore removed reviews?

Not if they were removed for policy violations. Google says it doesn’t reinstate those. Reviews hidden under a restriction are unpublished for a set period, so they should return when it ends. If reviews went missing after your profile was suspended and reinstated, Google says to contact its support team for help.

Why isn’t a customer’s new review showing?

New reviews can be delayed, so give it a few days before you worry. The customer also needs to be signed in to a Google Account, and Google notes that older phones and operating systems can cause problems. If it never appears, Google’s systems may have judged it to break a policy.

Do reviews disappear when a profile is suspended?

They can. A suspended profile may lose its reviews from view, and Google’s help page covers reviews going missing after a profile is reinstated. There can also be a delay before they show again. If they haven’t returned after a few days, contact Google Business Profile support and keep your case ID.

Can I ask a customer to post their review again?

You can ask, but be careful. If Google removed the review for breaking a policy, a repost may be removed too. Never offer a reward for reposting, and don’t write it for them. A better use of your time is asking this week’s customers for new reviews in their own words.

What should you do next?

Check your email from Google and your profile today, and work out which of the six causes fits. Don’t replace missing reviews with bought ones.

Then go back to asking. Send BuyReviews your customer list and we’ll help you get Google reviews from the people you’ve served, so your count grows again.
